1、Project Overview

In recent years, with the continuous development of fiber-to-the-home FTTH technology, the number of FTTH users in xx province has continued to increase. At present, telecommunications, mobile and other communication operators have begun to define their development goals as FTTH, and have begun to transform Lanzhou City’s network, and have gradually laid optical fiber at the doorsteps of community users. In comparison, the transformation of cable TV FTTH is lagging behind. Currently, fiber-to-the-building technology is still used because the cost of fiber-to-the-home is relatively high. However, FTTH is an inevitable trend in network development in the future. Only optical fiber can achieve a bandwidth of more than 100Mbps to the home. Therefore, FTTH has become an inevitable choice and development direction.

 

 

2、Project design content

In order to cope with the urgent situation of FTTH development, we first carried out the design and research of cable TV FTTH using a newly built community as an example.

There are currently 9 buildings in a certain community. There is one unit in each high-rise building, each building is 18 stories high, with 4 households on each floor, and 72 households in each building. The number of households in the community is 648. The residential cable TV system is designed to adopt the FTTH method. One ONU per household is used as home receiving equipment, and in this way, fiber optics are implemented into the home.

 

 

3、Project design plan

3.1、Design principles

1)Fiber-to-the-home is used for home access, with a bandwidth of about 20M per household and 1000M at public service points (hospitals, schools, hotels, banks, shopping malls).

2)Optical fiber transmission adopts FTTH (fiber to the home) method.

3)Can carry standard-definition digital TV, high-definition TV, interactive on-demand, IPTV, public information, government affairs and information information and other comprehensive data services.

4)The receiving optical power of ONU is -18dBm—-20dBm

 

3.2、Design plan

According to the distribution of the buildings in the community, network design was carried out for the 9 buildings and public service points (schools, shopping malls) in the community. First, a room in the basement of Building 5 in the community was selected as the community computer room, and cabinets and 10G PON equipment were installed in the computer room. And 3 1*4 splitters. Each building is equipped with distribution boxes in weak current wells on the third, seventh, tenth, eleventh, fourteenth and seventeenth floors, with splitters placed inside the boxes. For optical cable laying and home optical cables, indoor suspended wiring optical cables are used. The optical cable is connected to the home smart terminal box. ONU equipment is installed in the box. TVs and home computers are connected to the ONU device through indoor installed cables and data lines to receive TV and data signals.

 

3.3 Design indicators

1)Equipment reception indicators:

The receiving optical power of ONU is -18dBm—-20dBm

2)User-side indicators

The bandwidth of each household is not less than 20M, and the bandwidth of public service points is not less than 1000M.

 

3.4、Design features

Standardity: The entire system complies with the wiring standards recommended by CCITT; the building internal wiring system standards recommended by EIA/TIA, and the current general communication electrical standards in China.

Openness: The entire system can connect to computers, switches, and televisions of various manufacturers and models, and supports different network structures. Supports the implementation of extended functions such as WIFI.

Convenience: Meets the requirements for terminal equipment shifting and line changes; as long as a simple jumper is performed on the distribution frame, the transfer connection of the equipment can be easily realized.

Advancement: Adopting advanced technical standards and construction techniques to ensure that it does not fall behind within a few years.

Reliability: The selected equipment and materials have been nationally certified, comply with safety standards, have a high degree of integration, and can meet the requirements for safe transmission.

 

 

4、Engineering construction

Construction is a key link in realizing the design plan. It mainly includes three parts: equipment selection, cable selection, and cable laying.

Selection of equipment: Consider the development trend of PON. 10G PON equipment has been maturely used. In the future, according to the development of technology, 40G PON equipment can be used for replacement.

Selection of cables: Indoor optical cables should be indoor suspended wiring optical cables.

Cable laying: Cable laying should be carried out in accordance with relevant optical cable construction specifications and standards.
